Your writing stays with you.

Sophia stores everything you write locally in your browser using PGlite (a WebAssembly PostgreSQL database). Your entries, connections, and reflections are never sent to a server. There are no accounts and no logins.

Anonymous usage signals

We don't use cookies. We do send two kinds of anonymous, content-free signals so we can tell whether the tool is actually working — never what you wrote: (1) event beacons (session started, which step you reached, session completed) tagged with a random per-device ID, not your identity; (2) aggregate session counts via Counter.dev, a privacy-focused analytics service, reached through our own subdomain. Both can be disabled by adding ?admin_mode=true to the URL.

Data portability

You can export all your data as a JSON file at any time from the Settings page.

Right to erasure

You can permanently delete all data from the Settingspage. This action is immediate and irreversible. You can also clear your browser's storage directly at any time.

GDPR & Sovereignty

Your journal content never leaves your device, so you are its sole controller — there is nothing for us to hold, process, or hand over. The anonymous usage signals described above aren't linked to your identity or to anything you've written.
